We design and construct many types of retaining wall systems that address hillside retention problems.  Examples include mortared stone retaining walls, dramatic boulder terracing, large structural concrete walls, post-and-beam and drilled concrete pier bulkhead walls, modular locking pre-cast block systems, and unique, attractive stacked-and-pinned pressure-treated landscape timber designs.

• Steep Properties
We are adept at dealing with very steep hillsides.  There are a number of approaches for naturalistic development, hillside stabilization, and walking accessibility that can transform a vertiginous wilderness into a gently accessible, lovely secret garden, with surprise views.

Drainage problems are ubiquitous (we've solved many knotty ones), and we keep abreast of current drainage innovations, techniques and materials.

Steep hillsides often may require land stabilization.  We offer a number of creative and effective approaches that build in long term stability.  Aesthetics do not have to take a back seat to functionality, as we integrate attractive terracing design and materials into different stabilization techniques.

We are experts at natural creek and watercourse stabilization and restoration, and land reclamation in watercourse-adjacent areas.  We are proud of several quite beautiful, natural appearing stream bank stabilization and wet weather water flow optimization projects we’ve done in residential properties bisected by local natural creeks.

We use the latest equipment and techniques to produce durable, trouble-free, and water- conserving drip and broadcast irrigation systems.

We offer varied and artful plant design, working from a horticultural knowledge base of plant palette, culture needs, growth habits, and compatibility with local climate micro-zones.  In unfenced or unfenceable areas, we do deer resistant gardens that are remarkable for their lush foliage, color and plant variety.

• Garden Lighting
We design and install durable, practical, and technically up-to-date low voltage lighting systems, creating dramatic nighttime effects that greatly add to the utility and enjoyment of a garden.  Low voltage lighting provides very flexible, cost conservative, and effective garden and outdoor living space illumination.  We challenge ourselves in creating singular effects, and adding novel nighttime dimensions to new and existing gardens.
