In the urban and suburban environment, too many designs, and gardens, have a “hardscape-heavy” look, with minimized planted areas, or where garden areas are isolated from outdoor living zones. Often, the plant component looks like an afterthought.
Wendy Wilde (see The Team at Chris E. Hecht Landscape Design) integrates the plantscape into the living space of the garden. The specific cultural needs of particular trees and plants are kept in mind, while an aesthetic balance between hardscape and plant material is maintained. Wendy’s plant knowledge wizardry and unique plant selections show off her talents as a dedicated plantsperson with a painter’s eye.
Our hillside and larger-project gardens are designed to need a low level of maintenance. We integrate irrigation into the design in order to keep water demand low, and to minimize maintenance requirements.
In this way we create gardens that are unique and beautiful, fun to spend time in, refreshing for the spirit, and easy to take care of.
